CHILD SUPPORT INTERCEPT COUNTY CHANGE NOTICE

The county that was receiving the child support deductions that are being taken from your Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits has changed. Effective Blank line , the deductions are being sent to the Department of Child Support Services office listed below.

LEGAL AUTHORITY:

Family Code Section 17518 and California Unemployment Code Section 1255.7 require the Employment Development Department (EDD) to deduct overdue child support obligations from a claimant's UI benefits.

APPEAL:

You have the right to file an appeal if you believe that the EDD did not receive instructions to make the deductions according to the law. To file an appeal:

  1. Write a letter stating that you want to file an appeal. Explain why you do not agree. Write your Social Security number on your letter.
  2. Mail your letter to the EDD address listed on the top of this form.
  3. File your appeal within thirty (30) days of the mail date of this notice or no later than Blankline .

APPEAL INFORMATION:

Appeal forms are also available on the EDD website at www.edd.ca.gov/forms Enter the form number “DE 1000M” to search for the form and follow the online instructions. You can fill out the form online, then print and mail to the address listed on this notice. You can also print a copy and complete by hand, then mail it.
When your appeal is received, we will send your appeal to the Office of Appeals. If you appeal after the thirty (30) days, you must give a good reason for the delay or the Administrative Law Judge may dismiss your appeal.
The Office of Appeals will send you a letter with the date, place, and time of your hearing. At the hearing, the Administrative Law Judge will listen to you, examine the facts, and make a decision. You may bring a representative or someone else to help you.

While you wait for the Judge's decision, you must continue to certify for benefits and mail your weekly claim forms. If you do not receive claim forms or a hearing letter, please call the number on the front of this form.
