The Federal Government has added 29 weeks of unemployment benefits to the Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) extension under the CARES Act of 2020, as amended by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021. The additional benefit weeks first became available March 14, 2021.
The Employment Development Department (EDD) automatically filed an extension for you to receive these benefits. In order to receive the benefits, you must certify your eligibility for each week of benefits. If you have a disqualification, benefits will be paid once the disqualification is removed. The fastest way to certify for benefits and find more information about your claim status is to visit UI Online℠.
According to the CARES Act of 2020, as amended by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021, the last date a PEUC extension can begin is August 29, 2021. Once filed, you can be paid benefits until: you collect all weeks of benefits available; or you are eligible for a new regular UI claim; or until the PEUC Program ends on September 6, 2021; whichever occurs first.
Under 18 U.S.C. section§1001, knowingly and willfully concealing a material fact by any trick, scheme or device or knowingly making a false statement in connection with this claim is a Federal Offense, punishable by a fine of not more than $10,000 or imprisonment for not more than five years, or both.
This decision is final unless appealed to an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) of the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board (CUIAB) within 30 days from the date this notice was mailed to you.
