We have taken your request by telephone to file a TAA application. Enclosed in this package is an APPLICATION FOR TRADE ADJUSTMENT ASSISTANCE (TAA) and the pamphlet titled GETTING BACK TO WORK AFTER A TRADE RELATED LAYOFF.
Please read the pamphlet very carefully and keep it for reference.
Complete the attached APPLICATION FOR TRADE ADJUSTMENT ASSISTANCE (TAA), sections A. through D.
Mail the completed form in the envelope provided.
You will receive a phone call or notice from Special Claims Office (SCO) 850 within ten days following the mailing of the completed form. This will confirm that the office has received your application. If you do not receive an acknowledgment, after 10 days contact the telephone claim filing office and request they send an electronic message to SCO 850 to see if that office has received your application.
SCO 850 will determine your eligibility for benefits and send you a Notice of Eligibility or Denial. If you do not receive a Notice of Eligibility or Denial within 30 days following the mailing of the completed form, contact the Telephone Claim Filing Office and request they send an electronic message to SCO 850 to inquire about the status of your TAA application.
If you receive a Notice of Eligibility indicating that you are an affected worker and if you are interested in training, job search and/or relocation, contact the local EDD Job Service Office for an appointment. Take the Notice of Eligibility with you to the Job Service appointment.
When you have received all the benefits in your unemployment insurance claim, you must contact the Telephone Claim Filing Office to request to reactivate your TRA claim. No weekly TRA benefits may be paid until all regular UI benefits have exhausted. However, you may be eligible for training assistance, job search and relocation allowance even if your UI benefits have not exhausted.
