FEDERAL UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS WILL END SOON

Federal unemployment benefit programs will end September 4, 2021. You will no longer be paid benefits for the claim types listed below after September 4, even if you have a balance left on your claim.

  • Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA)
  • Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC)
  • Pandemic Additional Compensation (PAC)
  • Mixed Earner Unemployment Compensation (MEUC)

Note: Federal-State Extended Duration (FED-ED) benefits will no longer be payable after September 11.

The federal government does not allow benefit payments to be made for weeks of unemployment after these programs end, even if you have a balance left on your claim. Certification weeks eligible for payment prior to the end of these programs will be processed, this includes weeks eligible for conditional payments. You will be notified about what to expect based on your claim type. To learn more and find your claim type, visit edd.ca.gov/fed-benefits.htm.

More Information

PEUC Claims

If you qualified for the Deferred New Claim Payment (DNCP) program, we will automatically move you to your unexpired, regular unemployment claim, which has a lower weekly benefit amount. We will notify you how to certify for future weeks on your regular unemployment claim.

FED-ED Claims

If your FED-ED benefits ended on August 7, or you collected 13 benefit weeks between August 8 and August 28, we will automatically move you to a PEUC extension. If eligible, you will receive PEUC benefits for the weeks not covered by FED-ED through September 4. We will notify you how to certify for future weeks on your PEUC extension.

Regular Unemployment Claims

Continue to certify for benefits.
