Employment Development Department (EDD) records show that you have benefit weeks that were automatically processed for payment. You are required to certify for Unemployment Insurance (UI) and/or Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) benefits you received for weeks of your claim early in the pandemic through the week ending May 9, 2020. The exact dates you are required to certify for will depend on your specific claim history. The automatic processing was an emergency effort to help with a historically high number of unemployment claims. You are now required to certify for these benefits you received, known as retroactive certification.
You must submit your retroactive certification within the next 90 days. You will be required to provide your last name, date of birth, and Social Security number to access your retroactive certification. If you do not submit your retroactive certification, we will make an eligibility determination based on information available, which may impact your benefit payments.
Start your retroactive certification at edd.ca.gov/retro.htm.
