You have until Blank line (21 days) to provide your alien identification number to verify that you are in satisfactory immigration status and have the legal right to work. You may call the Employment Development Department (EDD) to provide your alien identification number or mail a copy of the front and back of your United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) documents to the EDD address listed above. Please include your Social Security number on all copies. All copies must be clear and readable. DO NOT SEND ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS. The EDD will pay you UI benefits (provided you are otherwise eligible) pending receipt of the copies of the USCIS documents requested or pending a telephone call from you providing your information. If you fail to provide the alien identification number or USCIS documents within the 21-day period, you may be disqualified and have to repay any UI benefits you have received.
The EDD must send copies of your USCIS documents to the USCIS to verify your immigration and legal right-to-work status. Do not send copies of your immigration documents unless you are instructed on a separate notice. The EDD will pay you UI benefits (provided you are otherwise eligible) pending verification from the USCIS. If the USCIS determines you are not in satisfactory immigration status and do not have the legal right to work, you may be disqualified and have to repay any UI benefits you have received.
