End of the Federal-State Extended Duration (FED-ED) Extension and Pandemic Additional Compensation Programs

The Federal-State Extended Duration (FED-ED) extension program ends September 11, 2021, because California no longer meets the unemployment rate required to pay FED-ED benefits.

According to the CARES Act of 2020, pandemic additional compensation (PAC), also known as the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) program, ended on September 4, 2021.

How Does This Affect You?

You were collecting FED-ED benefits. Federal law does not allow FED-ED benefits to be paid for weeks of unemployment after September 11, 2021, even if there is a balance remaining on your claim and you remain unemployed.

In addition, the $300 PAC payments are no longer payable for any weeks after September 4, 2021.
