Your claim ends on MM/DD/YYYY. Under usual circumstances, this means that you would not receive any benefits for the weeks after MM/DD/YYYY, even if you have a balance remaining on your claim. But with the pandemic, there are federal extensions available to most claimants.
If you did work during the last 18 months, you could qualify for a new claim. We recommend you submit an online application one to five days before MM/DD/YYYY or as soon as possible after to not miss a week of benefits. If you wait to submit your application, your benefits could be delayed.
After you reapply, we will let you know if you do qualify for a new regular unemployment claim and any next steps you need to take. Depending on your eligibility, we may move you to a new claim, add a federal extension to your expired claim, or continue your existing extension.
Visit https://edd.ca.gov/Unemployment/UI_Online for information on how to apply for and manage your claim.
By using the EDD’s online services, you can shorten the process time, reduce common errors that can occur with submitting paper forms, save postage costs, and eliminate mailing delays. For more information, visit https://edd.ca.gov/About_EDD/Online_Services.
