The Federal Government has added 11 weeks of unemployment benefits to the Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) extension under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act of 2020, as amended by the Continued Assistance Act (CAA) of 2020. The first date these additional benefit weeks are available is December 27, 2020.
The department has automatically filed a PEUC Tier 2 extension for you to receive these benefits. In order to receive the benefits, you must certify your eligibility for each week of benefits. The fastest way to certify for benefits and find more information about your claim status is to visit UI Online℠.
According to the federal law, the last date a PEUC extension can begin is August 29, 2021. If eligible, you can be paid benefits until you collect all weeks of benefits available, you are eligible for a new regular UI claim, or until the PEUC program ends on September 6, 2021, whichever of these occurs first.
Under 18 U.S.C. section§1001, knowingly and willfully concealing a material fact by any trick, scheme or device or knowingly making a false statement in connection with this claim is a Federal Offense, punishable by a fine of not more than $10,000 or imprisonment for not more than five years, or both.
